The S8 sits one step above the [E8](machine:jura-e8) and shares most of it: the same tank, the same hopper, the same power. What you add is the interface — a larger colour screen that says what is happening in words rather than pictograms — and a burr that is audibly calmer.

Whether that is worth the difference depends on who works it. Living alone on two espressos a day, the E8 does the same for less. In a house where people who do not know the machine also use it, a screen that writes full sentences is not a luxury but the reason nobody calls you over.
