Why this site

Matched on barcode, not on name

Every colour of the same machine has its own model number and its own price. We tie prices to the barcode, so you never end up comparing two different versions.

A verdict from real measurements

A struck-through price is the shop's own claim. Our verdict comes from what a machine actually cost on the days we looked — and while we have measured too little, we say so.

We sell nothing

We point you to the shops that do and earn commission on it. The order of the shops is always by price, never by what they pay us.

Frequently asked questions

Bean-to-cup or portafilter?
A bean-to-cup grinds, doses and brews at one button; a portafilter machine leaves all three to you. The question is not which makes better coffee but whether you enjoy the motions. If they feel like chores, a portafilter machine becomes an expensive box you do not use.
Do I need a separate grinder?
Only for machines without a built-in grinder, like the Dedica and the Bambino. Budget something close to the price of the machine itself — on pre-ground coffee no portafilter machine gives you what it is capable of.
Why are there several prices for the same machine?
Because manufacturers sell every finish under its own model number and barcode. The De’Longhi Dedica is EC685.BK, EC685.M and EC685.R — three prices, one machine. We match on barcode, so you never accidentally compare two different versions.
When are espresso machines cheapest?
The big drops are around Black Friday and in the weeks before Sinterklaas and Christmas. Outside those periods the offers rotate by brand, which is exactly what this site tracks.
How much maintenance does a bean-to-cup need?
Descaling on the machine’s own schedule, and rinsing the milk system after every use. That second point is where most machines die: milk residue in a hose is the most common reason a bean-to-cup gives up after a few years.

Espressodeal earns commission when you buy something through a link on this page. It costs you nothing extra and does not decide which machine we recommend. Read how that works
